VTV.vn - Vietnam has registered no new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, and September 14 is the 12th consecutive day the country has effectively controlled the outbreak in the community.

Vietnam has so far confirmed 691 locally transmitted cases, including 551 cases recorded following the resurgence of the virus on July 25.

Five COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital on September 14, bringing the total number of recoveries to 926 out of 1,063 locally transmitted and imported cases.

Among the 101 active cases in hospital, 45 cases have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and four are in critical condition.

To date 35 patients have died of COVID-19 and related illnesses. Most of the fatalities suffered from severe health issues such as chronic renal failure, blood cancer, respiratory failure, diabetes (type 2), pneumonia, and multi-organ failure.

The number of quarantined people who returned from epidemic hit countries and had contact with COVID-19 patients has fallen to 33,600.
