VTV.vn - A further two Vietnamese citizens who flew back to Vietnam from coronavirus-hit Russia have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, the Ministry of Health said on May 17 afternoon.

The two male patients took Vietnam Airlines flight VN0062 to return to Quang Ninh province’s Van Don International Airport on May 13.

They were transferred to a concentrated quarantine facility run by the Military School in Thai Binh province upon their arrival, and both tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on May 16.

The two were among more than 340 Vietnamese citizens on board the same flight from Moscow to Quang Ninh. They were left stranded in Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some 27 other passengers boarding the flight were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

By 18.00 May 18, Vietnam had recorded a total of 320 coronavirus cases, with 180 cases returning from epidemic hit countries. However, there is no possibility that the imported cases will spread the virus among the community, since all the returnees were quarantined as soon as they landed in Vietnam.
