This event was held in response to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s call and the Prime Minister’s special emulation movement calling on the whole country to join hands to repel the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, VGCL President Nguyen Dinh Khang called on all cadres, union members, workers, public employees and labourers nationwide to uphold the tradition of patriotism and solidarity, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and successfully realise the goal of soon repelling the epidemic and restoring production.
He suggested that trade unions, especially the heads of executive committees of trade unions at all levels thoroughly grasp the contents of the emulation movement, and concretise it into specific conditions at their respective levels and units, as well as deploy the movement in a drastic, creative, substantive and effective manner.
More attention should be paid to information dissemination among workers, public employees, labourers and trade unions at all levels in order toimplement the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on epidemic prevention and control; on the tradition of solidarity and patriotism of the nation; and the responsible actions of citizens in places that are applying social distancing.
Trade unions at all levels should also devise creative plansand mobilise resources to take care of needy union members and workers, especially those living and working in blocked and quarantined areas, he said, adding that creative solutions should be duplicated to promptly and effectively respond to the practical requirements and developments of the epidemic.
