On the evening of July 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a teleconference under the chair of Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member cum Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, to discuss stricter measures against the outbreaks in the city.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary Nen said that the conference was aimed at discussing measures for the thorough implementation of Directive 16 of the Prime Minister on the application of strict social distancing rules in the city for two weeks, as well as effectively implementing Directive No. 12 of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

According to Nen, participants at the conference focused on discussing the most basic aspect, how to control the outbreaks in the city.

Over the next two weeks, the city targets to boost communications so that all units and people in the city voluntarily join hands to prevent the epidemic and cooperate in strictly implementing the social distancing order.

At the conference, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong stated that starting from tomorrow evening (July 26), local residents are told to not go out between 6 pm and 6 am the next day.

All activities in the city are temporarily suspended, except for emergency cases and at the request of the concerned authorities for coordination in the epidemic prevention, Phong said.
