Hanoi Party chief inspects blockaded area in Dong Da District

VTV.vn - On August 31, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung inspected the COVID-19 prevention and control in wards Van Mieu and Van Chuong, which are two extremely high risk areas in Dong Da District.

This is the second time the Hanoi Party chief visited the two wards within a week by to directly inspect the control of blockade and quarantine in the localities.

During the visit, the city’s Party leader toured COVID-19 checkpoints and examined the operation of COVID-19 response teams in Nguyen Khuyen Street and Tran Quy Cap Street (Van Mieu Ward) and Van Chuong Alley (Van Chuong Ward).

He also visited local households to check their living conditions to ensure that they have received support of food and essential goods from local authorities.

According to leaders of Dong Da District, as of August 30, Van Mieu Ward and Van Chuong Ward logged a total of 195 F0 cases and 292 F1 cases, respectively. Currently, the district has established 45 checkpoints in the two wards and 28 others inside the blockaded areas.

Speaking at the event, Hanoi Party leader Dinh Tien Dung applauded the positive progresses in the COVID-19 prevention and control in the area, which have mobilised the participation of locals in the fight against the pandemic.

He asked people in the two wards to continue promoting solidarity, self-management and voluntary participation in the prevention and control of the pandemic.

He also requested the authorities of Dong Da District, and the wards of Van Mieu and Van Chuong in particular, to continue keep a close watch on the pandemic developments while providing prompt support for local people during this difficult period.

* A hospital providing treatment for severe and critical COVID-19 patients in Hanoi and northern localities was put into operation on August 31 after one month of construction.

The 500-bed hospital covers an area of 3.5 hectares in Yen So ward, Hoang Mai district.

As the second facility of the Hanoi Medical University Hospital, it will serve as a national COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) which will provide treatment for patients in severe and critical conditions as well as technical assistance for other COVID-19 medical facilities in the assigned areas.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen asked the Hanoi Medical University Hospital to prepare human resources and equipment for this hospital, and provide a full range of comprehensive, equal and fast medical services, which means not only focusing on COVID-19 patients but also offering examination and treatment of other common diseases.

Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of the Hanoi Medical University Hospital and the Director of the Hospital for Treatment of COVID-19 Patients, pledged that the hospital’s medical staff will try their best to take care of patients, considering their health as the top priority.
