PM Pham Minh Chinh made the request while chairing a videoconference held by the Government's Standing Board to review a month of COVID-19 prevention and control work in localities implementing social distancing in accordance with Directive 16/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister and Resolution No.86/NQ-CP of the Government.
The Government leader stated that social distancing according to Directive No.16 has been applied in a number of cities and provinces, and some localities have issued additional directives at a higher level than that prescribed by the Government.
The PM welcomed this approach by some localities and noted that on the basis of central regulations, localities can apply their strategies in a creative, flexible and effective manner to suit the local situation.
The implementation of Directive No.16 has achieved certain results with the participation of the whole political system and people, basically helping bring the epidemic under control.
However, PM Chinh also pointed out some limitations and urged ministries, branches and localities to well aware of their responsibilities and devise more effective solutions to overcome these in the coming time.
At the conference, the Ministry of Health proposed more drastic and thorough measures to prevent and control the epidemic in order to achieve the goal of disease control as in the content of Resolution No.86 on August 6, 2021 of the Government.
Timely and effective treatment measures must be applied to minimise COVID-19 infections and fatalities, ensuring adequate oxygen, ventilators, emergency beds and other necessary conditions as soon as possible.
Plans on vaccination against COVID-19 must be quickly deployed in localities while forces participating in vaccination must be well trained, in addition to applying information technology in the implementation of vaccination activities.
