At the 2023 Kite Awards, the VFC-produced Mother of Straw won the Golden Kite Award. The movie was broadcast on VTV1 channel from November 2002 to January 2023 and received the affection of a large television audience.
Speaking on stage at the award ceremony, Nguyen Phuong Dien, representative of the film crew and director, expressed his honor and excitement when "Mother of Straw" won the Golden Kite Award in the TV feature film category. The director said that the film crew went through many difficulties, hardships and sacrifices during the filming of the movie. "This award recognizes the success of the whole team," he said.
Director Phuong Dien thanked all the crew members, the judges, the organizing committee and especially the audience for their love for Mother of Straw.
In addition to Mother of Straw winning the Golden Kite Award in the TV Series category, actor Thai Hoa also won the Golden Kite Award for Best Actor in a TV Drama for his role as "Hunchback" Mo in Mother of Straw.
During its approximately 3-month broadcast, Mother Straw attracted special interest from viewers as it provided viewers with engaging content through a simple story with a very relatable and straightforward storytelling style.
