Road to Mount Olympia: Hanoi female student wins laurel wreath thanks to helper question

VTV.vn - After intense and thrilling rounds of competition, Trà My has emerged as this week's winner with a score of 260 points.

The competition in week 3 of March - quarter 2 of 2024 on Road to Mount Olympia features four contestants: Lê Trà My from Sóc Sơn High School in Hanoi, Lưu Ngọc Anh from Hưng Yên High School in Hưng Yên, Nguyễn Quốc Nhật Minh from Hùng Vương Specialized High School in Gia Lai, and Nguyễn Vũ Anh Đức from Lê Hồng Phong High School in Thái Nguyên.

In the Individual Warm-up round, Trà My was the first contestant to start and also had the highest score - 50 points. Nhật Minh followed closely with 40 points, while Ngọc Anh and Anh Đức tied with 20 points each. After the collective Warm-up round, Trà My and Nhật Minh cremained close after the collective warm-up round, but Trà My remained in the lead with 80 points. Nhật Minh had 70 points, Anh Đức had 50 points, and Ngọc Anh had 10 points.

The keyword for this week's Obstacle Crossing challenge is 8 letters long. After 4 questions, none of the contestants buzzed in. However, just as the host was about to move to the final question to reveal the image in the center position, Anh Đức buzzed in to answer the obstacle and provided the correct answer, "Durian”. This answer brought Anh Đức's total score to 110 points but he still couldn't surpass Trà My's 120 points. Meanwhile, Nhật Minh had 100 points, and Ngọc Anh had 40 points.

In the Acceleration round, the difference in points between the contestants was not too significant. This round is alsoseen as an opportunity for contestants to catch up or make significant points gains.

In question 3, Trà My was the only one to provide a different answer than the other three contestants, and she was also the only one to give the correct answer, earning her an additional 40 points. Moving on to question 4, although all 4 contestants answered correctly, Trà My was the fastest. At the end of the Acceleration round, Trà My was still in the lead with 230 points.

In the Home Stretch round, Trà My chose the safety package of 3 questions worth 20 points each. However, after answering the first two questions incorrectly, Trà My lost 20 points to Anh Đức and another 20 points to Nhật Minh. For the third question, Trà My regained her composure and answered correctly. At the end of the round, Trà My had 210 points.

Similar to Trà My, Nhật Minh also chose the package of 3 questions worth 20 points each. After answering all three questions excellently, Nhật Minh temporarily took the lead with 240 points.

Anh Đức opted for the package of questions worth 20 - 30 - 20 points. In the 30-point question, after Anh Đức failed to provide an answer, Trà My buzzed in and gave the correct response, bringing her total to 240 points and tying her with Nhật Minh for the lead in the program. For the final question, Anh Đức chose the Hope Star and earned an additional 40 points. Anh Đức's total score after this round was 170 points.

In the first question of Ngọc Anh's turn in the Home Stretch round, Nhật Minh once again provided the correct answer, earning him an additional 20 points and temporarily taking the lead with 260 points. Meanwhile, in the last question, Trà My buzzed in to answer. Despite feeling extremely anxious and lacking confidence, her answer was correct.

As a result, Trà My and Nhật Minh were tied on 260 points, forcing them into the tiebreaker round. In a split second decision, Trà My was officially crowned the winner of the laurel wreath round. After intense and thrilling rounds, the final scores were: Trà My 260 points, Ngọc Anh 30 points, Nhật Minh 260 points, and Anh Đức 155 points.

With this week's laurel wreath, Trà My will move on to the Monthly competition. Meanwhile, Nhật Minh will also return as the highest scoring contestant of the month.
