VTV.vn - The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee announced the launch of the Youth Volunteer Campaign Summer 2021 on June 11.

Taking place from June 1 to August 31, this year’s event will feature many practical activities with the most prominent among them a programme supporting the university entrance exam, and four sub-campaigns entitled ‘Green Summer’, ‘Red Flamboyant Flowers’, ‘Pink Holiday’" and ‘Green March'.

The event will focus on disadvantaged coastal areas, those heavily affected by floods in 2020, border areas and islands, localities with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, and areas with 16 ethnic minorities with a population of less than 10,000 people.

The campaigns hope to repair and renew 2,500 km of rural roads, grant free medical examinations and medicine to 200,000 people, transfer scientific and technical progress to 100,000 Youth Union members, plant 2 million trees, build 700 social houses, provide vocational training for 300,000 youths, and support 300 youth start-up projects.

During the summer campaign, youth union members are also being encouraged to promote their participation in the building of new-styled rural areas, environment protection, child care, and COVID-19 prevention and control.

Speaking at the launch ceremony Standing Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee and President of the Vietnamese Students' Association Bui Quang Huy called on youth union members and young people nationwide to promote their vanguard role and show a high sense of mutual support helping their fellow countrymen overcome the difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
